Heating and Air Conditioning Service in Los Angeles

The short answer

EliteCore HVAC Solutions serves the City of Los Angeles from neighboring Culver City, including ZIPs 90002 through 90012. We repair and install AC, furnaces, heat pumps and mini-splits, and help LADWP customers understand heat pump rebate rules.

Culver City shares long borders with the City of Los Angeles, so for EliteCore HVAC Solutions the big city is less a service area than our front yard. Our crews work across ZIP codes such as 90002, 90003, 90007, 90008 and 90011 to the south, along with 90004, 90005, 90006, 90010 and 90012 closer to the city's core. Few places hold so many kinds of housing in so little space: 1920s bungalows with floor furnaces, postwar ranch houses with attic ducts, courtyard apartments, lofts and newer mid-rise condos. Each one fails in its own way, and each one needs a different conversation about repair versus replacement. This page explains how we approach heating and cooling inside city limits.

One City, Several Microclimates

Los Angeles has a Mediterranean climate of dry summers and mild winters, but the experience shifts block by block depending on distance from the coast. Central and South Los Angeles neighborhoods warm up noticeably more than the beach side of the Westside, and afternoon heat can linger well into the evening inside a stucco house with little attic insulation. When fall Santa Ana winds arrive, they bring hot, dry spells that test every compressor in town at once.

That variety is why we avoid one-size recommendations. A downtown condo with a small air handler in a closet, a South LA bungalow with a single floor furnace and a mid-city fourplex all need different equipment, different airflow targets and different maintenance routines.

Rebates for LADWP Customers

Inside city limits, many homes are LADWP electric customers. If you are a residential LADWP customer, the Consumer Rebate Program offers rebates on qualifying heat pump HVAC systems, with the amount tied to the unit's SEER2 and HSPF2 efficiency ratings. The application is filed after the equipment is purchased and installed, and it must be submitted within 12 months of purchase, so keep your invoice and model numbers handy.

We still confirm the current program details before quoting them, because offers change. One older incentive is gone: the federal 25C credit covered qualifying heat pumps placed in service before December 31, 2025, and it is not available for installations after that date.

Older Homes, Older Equipment

Some of the most interesting work we do happens in the city's prewar housing. Typical findings include:

  • Floor and wall furnaces that still work but have cracked components or poor venting
  • Ductwork added decades after construction, routed through tight attics with long, leaky runs
  • Panels and circuits that need attention before a heat pump or condenser can be added
  • Rooms that were enclosed porches, now too hot in summer and cold in winter
  • Original return grilles too small for the blower installed later

Apartments, Condos and Ductless Options

Multi-unit living is common across these ZIP codes, and it shapes the options. Many buildings restrict where an outdoor unit may sit or how lines may run along a facade. Ductless mini-splits are often the cleanest answer for units that only have a wall heater, while condo owners with an existing split system usually need careful matching of a new condenser to an indoor coil that may be hard to reach. We are comfortable working with building managers and homeowner associations on access and placement before any work starts.

Gas Furnaces and Cleaner Air

Anyone replacing a natural-gas central furnace in the Los Angeles region should know about South Coast AQMD Rule 1111, which limits NOx emissions from fan-type central furnaces and has been amended toward zero-emission requirements. The district sets and revises compliance dates, so we review the current rule with you during planning. Indoor air matters too: traffic dust and wildfire smoke can find their way inside through leaky returns, and better filtration, sealed ducts or a dedicated air cleaner can make a real difference in how a home feels during smoky weeks.

FAQ

Common questions

Don’t see your question? Call (213) 463-7463 and we’ll talk it through.

Which parts of Los Angeles do you serve?

We work throughout the city near Culver City, including ZIPs 90002 to 90012, and also in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Inglewood and El Segundo.

How do I apply for the LADWP heat pump rebate?

Residential LADWP customers apply after the qualifying heat pump is purchased and installed, within 12 months of purchase. We provide the equipment details you need.

Can you service a floor furnace?

Yes. We clean, test and repair floor and wall furnaces and check their venting, then explain whether repair or replacement is the better route.

Do you work in condo and apartment buildings?

We do, and we coordinate with managers or associations about roof access, equipment placement and work hours.

Is there still a federal tax credit for heat pumps?

The 25C credit covered qualifying heat pumps placed in service before December 31, 2025. It is not available for new installations after that date.

What should I do before calling about a warm house?

Check the filter, confirm the thermostat is set to cool and look for a tripped breaker. If it still is not cooling, schedule a diagnostic.
